Prep Wrestling • OAK HILLS TAKES HOME THIRD DESPITE BEING SHORTHANDED: At Torrance, Oak Hills only had eight wrestlers, but all of them finished in the top 12 to help the Bulldogs capture third place at the 66-team North Torrance Tournament of Champions. Ray Delgado (119) had placed second in two previous tournaments, but on Thursday picked up his first tournament title when he beat a former North Carolina state champion in the finals. Robert Marchese (189) and G. Aguirre (215) each came in second, picking up their first losses of the season in tournament title matches. Marchese’s loss came as a 6-5 decision to the state’s third-ranked wrestler, Preston Quam. Anthony Rodriguez (171) reached the semifinals after pinning the second-seeded wrestler, before finishing in fourth. Russell Flores (112) rounded out the Bulldogs’ placers with a seventh-place medal. Justin Gillham (hwt), R.J. Caldwell (103) and Isaiah Culpepper (145) each finished a match away from placing to grab top 12 finishes. Great Job Coaches,and Wrestlers,did a great, great job specially with 8 wrestlers 3rd place Finished.
